Bramble
Learn and build SONiC networks on your Mac
Build Network Labs on Your Mac
Bramble runs on our custom-compiled SONiC image — currently the only SONiC image that runs natively on Apple Silicon. Design network topologies visually, launch them as real SONiC virtual switches, and SSH into any device with a single click. No Linux workstation or cloud server required.
Key Features
- 23 hands-on labs — LLDP and VLANs through BGP, VXLAN, and EVPN, each step self-checking against live device state, plus break/fix exercises with real injected faults
- Visual topology editor — drag-and-drop switches and hosts, four bundled presets, or round-trip containerlab YAML in and out
- Real SONiC on Apple Silicon — our custom-compiled image booting directly on Virtualization.framework in 60–90 seconds, no QEMU
- See inside the network — in-app SSH and serial consoles, CONFIG_DB/APPL_DB/STATE_DB queries, per-interface packet capture to Wireshark, live BGP/LLDP link overlay
- Drive it from your AI client — an MCP server exposing 20 tools so Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex builds and runs labs headlessly, with a tutor mode that coaches instead of solving
Why Bramble?
Network engineers and developers need to test configurations, learn protocols, and validate designs. Bramble eliminates the barrier of spinning up Linux VMs or renting cloud instances — just draw your topology and click play.
Available Now
Bramble is available directly from DendroLabs — a one-time purchase, no subscription.
- Personal — $59 — for individual use, learning, and home labs
- Business — $129 — the same app, licensed for commercial use
Your purchase includes the Bramble app and our custom-compiled SONiC image — everything you need to run your first lab.
Requirements
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Mac | Apple Silicon (M1 or later) | M1 Pro or better |
| macOS | 14.0 (Sonoma) | 15.0 or later |
| Memory | 8 GB | 16 GB or more |
| Disk | 5 GB | 10 GB or more |
Intel Macs are not supported. Each SONiC switch uses 2 GB of memory and each Linux host 512 MB, so a two-node lab needs roughly 4 GB and the full EVPN fabric about 9 GB.
Bramble is notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without an unidentified-developer warning. The app itself is a small download and fetches about 1.9 GB of VM images on first launch. Keeping the images separate means app updates stay small instead of re-downloading them every time.
